Are you ready to get flawless?
We have all you need to know about cosmetic tattoo!
We use two types of numbing creams so the treatment is as painless and comfortable as possible. Some areas may experience some sensitivity, however you will not experience pain. Unlike body tattoos, cosmetic tattoo is very gentle and does not penetrate the skin as deeply meaning the experience will be easily tolerated. Most clients are shocked at just how pain free the experience is!
The term permanent makeup can be a little confusing. Unlike body tattoo, cosmetic tattoo or permanent make up will eventually fade. A treatment lasts around one to three years. Touch ups or refreshes may be required to boost colour after 12 months, however some clients will hold colour for many years to come!
Healing time differs in individuals. It can be anything from 4 days to 14 days. The majority of clients resume daily activities the same day. Dependant on the area tattooed, redness, dryness and minor swelling can occur. Swelling usually subsides within a couple of hours (except in full lip treatments where it can take up to 24 hours). Itchiness is the first sign of healing. Do not itch the area as scabbing and itching will cause patchiness within the tattoo.
We ensure all of our equipments are 100% sterile. Most parts of the equipment used are disposable and prior to use you can view them in their original sterile packaging. We then carefully dispose of all of the disposable parts. Other non-disposable equipment and materials used have been sterilised by our onsite autoclave adhering to QLD health and safety regulations. It is up to the client to take care of the treated area appropriately post treatment to ensure the area is kept clean.
Please allow 2.5 hours for your appointment. This includes your consultation, choosing colours and designing the shape, the pre draw and the actual tattooing time. The appointments are long, so feel free to bring headphones to listen to music or a podcast if you like!
We have a large range of colours to choose from and can also blend colours together to create a customised look for you. We will look at your hair colour, skin colour and undertone to determine which colour will best suit you. If you are unsure on colours, it is always better to start off with a lighter/more natural colour. Once you have become used to your new brows/lips we can darken up the colour to suit. It helps to bring your favourite lipstick or brow pencil as well!

There are many different factors that can affect cosmetic tattooing.
The sun fades the pigment faster so sun block should be used once healed.
The choice of colour – light colours fade quicker than darker colours
Oily skin tends to lose colour more quickly than other skin types
Metabolism, skin products, deficiencies, lifestyles and age all take part in the healing process.
Follow after care advice on my website to ensure you play your part in getting the best result.
Ombre powder brows gives a more defined, solid appearance, (yet still very natural) and is usually a longer-lasting option, whereas feather touch involves cosmetic tattooing on tiny lines/strokes that gives the appearance of hair. Microblading involves cutting the skin with a blade to resemble hairstrokes. Hair-strokes alone, with no background, do require more re-touching than other methods which is why Ombre Powder brows are a better choice.
Ombre brows use a traditional tattoo gun which is used to shade in the eyebrows. This technique heals to leave a soft powder finish (looking like you have brushed an eyebrow powder through your brows) or expertly filled them in with pencil like a makeup artist would. This technique is great for all skin types, especially people with oily skin or older ladies with thin skin/fine lines or wrinkles through their eyebrows.
Absolutely not! Kate's brows, eyeliner and lips are always natural and appealing. She wants a person to look their best with a ‘fresh faced’ look rather than a heavy unnatural look. Cosmetic tattoo has come in leaps and bounds in recent years and we no longer have to deal with heavily tattooed, dark and fake looking work.
Eyebrows and eyeliner treatments tend to look darker in colour immediately after the appointment, while lip colours can look more intense. This softens in a few days. Lips are likely to have some residual swelling and can chap, looking dry and flaky. There may be some slight swelling after eyeliner treatments but this is usually limited. Most people resume their daily activities right away.
We advise not to wear normal cosmetics until the skin has healed as this may cause infection and/or hinder the healing process. If you absolutely have to, a light application of newly opened mineral make-up using new / clean brushes and wands is permitted, but we would rather you keep the treatment site hygienically clean and lightly moisturized to promote efficient healing. Once healed you can wear as much make-up as you wish, although you probably will not need to!
We can do corrections and coverups of existing cosmetic tattoo that you may be dissatisfied with. In some cases, it may be required that you get laser tattoo removal before treatment can take place. Send a photo to Kate to discuss if you are unsure.
Do not wear contact lenses for two (2) days following treatment.
Do not have an eyebrow or eyelash tint for two (2) weeks following treatment.
Do not wear eye or fake eyelashes for one (1) week following treatment.
Please buy new mascara/eyeliner to prevent cross infection.
Do not use after cream unless you are very red/swollen (always keep away from eyes).
If you have had a cold sore in the last 12 months it is recommended you take preventative medication to prevent an outbreak. Even if you have never had a cold sore before, it is still possible the virus lays dormant in your system and a lip tattoo could trigger your first outbreak. If you feel a tingle or itch on our lip three days after treatment, visit your pharmacist for an over the counter cold sore cream to prevent eruption. It is something to be aware of, even if you have never had a cold
Fading after your first appointment is very normal. When brows are healing, they may scab, itch and completely disappear – this is totally normal! Don’t be alarmed! Your skin is trying to heal just like it would a regular wound. This stage is called the “ghosting stage” the skin underneath may look pink/red or even ashy as it heals. Once the skin has healed at 28 days post-treatment, the pigment used will push through revealing the colour once more.
It’s time to book your touch up! As treatment is a two-step process, the touch up is your perfecting appointment to adjust the depth of colour and make any adjustments.
Cosmetic Tattooing is a two-part process and is necessary to have your touch up appointment to perfect your tattoo. A touch-up appointment is recommended after 4-6 weeks of your initial appointment. Colour retention varies depending on the individual and client compliance of home care instructions. Some people can have a resistant skin type where the ink doesn’t like to take. After your touch up, your treatment is complete and will last several years.
Yes! In fact, I recommend doing just that! If you want all procedures performed, I think it’s best to do it altogether, as this way there is just one healing time. Just make sure to book a double appointment as it will take longer than a regular appointment.
Of course! I would expect you to review samples of my work to know I can achieve your desired look. Please see my Instagram or Facebook page for images. Click the SOCIALS tab on this website to see all my images.
It's normal to be nervous but know you will be in good hands. We will have an extensive consultation prior to treatment to discuss everything and allay any fears you may have. Ask as many questions as you like! The idea of a tattoo on your face sounds daunting, but it is not like a body tattoo. It is a luxury beauty treatment and is not painful. You will walk into my beautiful salon space and feel welcomed and relaxed. You deserve to treat yourself to something just for you!
